![]() The only issues with this type of awd system is the electronics do tend to have a bit of a lazy day every now and then but it's very uncommon but it did in fact happen to me, which was simply a minor abs module fix. It does this through it's torsen center diff. It uses an open rear diff which detects wheel-spin through the use of the ABS and speed sensors(so don't delete it) which transfers power to the wheels that have more traction. Since you've mentioned that it will be your next project car, I can't help but tell you that boring it out to a 2.0L can and will put down more then 300kW to all 4 wheels, there are even specified kits for this.Īs per gearbox, well it's pretty solid too. So all I'm saying is that it's a reliable and tested engine. A little fun fact about audi engines: volkswagens receive the same engines 2-4 years after they have been used in the Audi's, while this is not entirely true, it most certainly is for the 4 cylinders between 96-08. The 1.8t that's in that version had already been developed for numerous years prior, as it originally came out in the B5 in 1996. ![]() Solid motor, solid gearbox and very nice interior finish/quality with tones of aftermarket support!
